Wanderer 5/12 hp Type W3H "Puppchen", 1913

The Wanderer Werke factory was founded in Chemnitz in 1885. In the spring of 1913 it presented the first Wanderer car, a small 12 hp 2-seater in which the seats were arranged in tandem (Type H). The compact car was given the nickname "Puppchen" in reference to the operetta posse "Puppchen" by Jean Gilbert. When this operetta was performed in the Central Theatre in Chemnitz, the Wanderer factory loaned a 5/12 hp compact car for the stage production. From then on, the car was popularly known as the "Puppchen".
