The newly developed Audi Front UW launched in 1933 was aimed at the upper middleclass and noted for its modern, cleverly combined group technology. Its front-wheel drive was adopted from DKW and the 40 hp six-cylinder engine was from Wanderer, hence the additional “W” in the model designation. The bodies for this sixwindow saloon were built at Horch and the bodies for the convertible at Gläser in Dresden.
