With the model 6/18 hp, the Wanderer Werke factory in Chemnitz completed the step in to the middle class. The Type W 6 was the first fully-fledged 4-seater car made by Wanderer and was presented for the first time in late 1920. The 4-cylinder engine was designed on the same lines as the one in the tried and tested 5/15 hp "Puppchen", i.e. it was an IOE engine with hanging inlet valve and standing exhaust valves. The body of the open-top touring car was built by Wanderer's own coachmaker.
